What is the Word Press Schedule Feature?  We are about to find out tonight by making this post on May 18, 2009, at aproximately 7pm on the Pacific Coast, USA,  and we are going to post it later.  We will post it about 8:30pm.

I have spent most of the morning looking at blog tutorials and templates.  Although I do not feel that I am any further ahead in getting some updates to this blog, I still have learned a lot.

I have found out that my Camtasia program software key does not work with my new computer.  How does it know I switched computers?  That is just scary.  Well that lead to time spend looking for the key and finally a letter to support requesting help.  My Camtasia is 2 years old but I see no need to pay for an upgrade.

I did that so I could watch some tutorial videos that were made with Camtasia.  However then I thought I would just watch them with my browser, but for some reason firefox would not open them.  That lead to downloading up updated Firefox plugin for Adobe Flash, and then I had to uninstall my video links because they were not set up right, reinstall them, and finally watched some videos on changing blogging templates.

Well 4 hours later, I am ready to go get away from the computer for a while.

There is so much to learn about blogging once you decide you want to have one of the better blogs around and get lots of followers.  You have to start posting things that people will read and return to read.  How do you compete to get readers with all that there is out there?

I see people with thousands of followers.  That is my goal.  However at Mastemind Pros, we do not only want followers, but we want to give our followers some quality content.  Mastermind Pros is in the business of teaching success.

Well where am I with the blog and the blog update?  I read that simple changes are better than complete radical changes to start with.  However with so few readers maybe radical changes would not upset that many people.

The changes will most likely take place in June 2009. Or if not that will get changed.  Who knows what Word Press has in mind for blogging by then.

One thing definite is that things will be changing.  I look forward to the future.

Mastermind Pros is growing in leaps and bounds.  With all that we offer in state of the art coaching our members are finding that they can make money with the right tools.  This is fantastic for us, because more members means more joint ventures, and more joint ventures means more opportunity to learn from each other and a much shorter learning curve.

We are finding that many of our members who have never had any success with Search Engine Advertising, focusing mainly on Yahoo and Adsense, are having success in a short amount of time.  Whether it is in a joint venture project or on their own they are seeing success.

What does this have to do with the blog?  Well blogs are communication tools, and they are a place where members and guests can go for information.  Now that the member base is steadily increasing with MMP, it is time to have an even better blog with more up to date content, videos and perhaps even a pod cast or two or more.

Does that sound like something we need here?

The first step it finding an acceptable theme.  This is the hunt for a great theme.  I am drawn to  the theme Hybrid News, but so far it looks like it will take a while to get that theme working right with the current setup on this blog.  It might be more than a few days to get that working right.  However there is a good amount of support for it so stay tuned for that upgrade.  I am really looking forward to it.

More and more people are blogging, yet more people still do not blog than do blog.  Blogging is the easiest way to start your own web presence.  Perhaps starting out on one of the social sites is easier, but they still are similar to having your own blog.

The advantage to having your own blog, whether or not you host it, or have it hosted by Blogger or WordPress is up to you.  Yes, there are other choices out there, but I guess I am set in my ways and go for the big 2.

Whether you want to set up a blog for fun or profit, you should get started with blogging.  So far more men than women blog, and people from countries other than the USA seem to be more interested in blogging than we are here.  Maybe there are too many distractions in the USA.  However we are seeing people who are becoming more and more tied into communication and information rather than television.

What can you offer information on? The best way to see where you want to start is to search what other people are doing out there. Search Google for some of your interests and then fine tune your search to blogs.  When you find some you like leave comments.  If you want to know how they got started perhaps ask questions in your comments.  I would say that over 1/2 of the bloggers out there will answer your comments.

Start your blog if you haven’t done so yet.  Let us know how you are doing with it.

If you do not have a blog today, you really should consider getting one.

There are a number of reasons why you should have a blog.  The one that I am appreciating more and more is the simple fact that all of your information is saved and archived in one spot.  You can chart your growth as an individual by the topics you post and who is reading your posts.  You can foster a sense of community by participating in blogging causes.  Blogs are excellent platforms to get the word out to the public about a specific area that you are passionate about.

More and more people are getting blogs.  Politicians have them.  Obama had one and McCain did not have a very active one.  Could that have made a difference in who is President of the US now?

Search engines love blogs.  Blogs have loyal readers.  Blogs are really very easy to set up, update and post to.  Free blogs are the best way to start.

Create A Blog And Start To Make Money Blogging

We have been waiting and waiting and now the wait is over. WordPress 2.7 is here. So now we will be upgrading this site once again and hoping that all the plugins will be happy campers. The interface looks great, and overall WP looks like it is about to take a turn for being a very friendly site. Yes, even friendlier than before. I noticed the FREE WordPress was upgraded earlier since we have a few blogs there, too. For those of you still afraid to start your own blog, you should really be our guest at one of our Monday Night Blogging Classes. You can take the fear out of blogging, starting your own blog and learn how to be a social marketer, or networker, or both. If you want to learn how to join us for a class and see what the Mastermind Pros are all about just leave us a comment here on the blog.

Over the next few weeks we will be exploring the changes to WordPress with 2.7, and we are sure there will be several little fixes along the way, but well will keep you informed of all that is happening in our Monday night class so you won’t have to panic. We know the people are WordPress have a great blogging platform and if you start out with a free blog or just jump in with a hosted one, you will be picking from among the one that most professional bloggers use.

Blogger blogs are getting better though, and with Google Friend Connect there is going to be some more competition brewing. My answer to that is get them both and link from one to the other.

Whatever you do get out there! Get a blog, visit blogs, and be sure to leave those comments that the bloggers love to get. You can never have enough comments. Well maybe I should rephrase that…No SPAM Please.

Is There Such A Thing As A Quick Fix?

Word Press has been really busy lately with updating and upgrading their blogs.  I am finding that while the Mastermind Pros Blog is looking really great in Firefox, it is looking pretty terrible in Internet Explorer.  I am not really sure what is causing the differences, but we are going to go throught it and do some trouble shooting in our class to see if we can fix it.

The problem seems to be in the theme.  However there is only one way to find that out and that is to go in and check the blog using new themes, or we could try something different.

Why do I think it is the theme?

Since starting this blog there have been several updates to Word Press.  This blog is heavily laden with plugins, too.  Perhaps the theme is no longer compatible with the new plugins.  There are several places to start and we can learn on each step.  It sounds tedious because it is, but we want our blogs to reflect on us.  We must take the time to go through the necessary steps to see if we can get the blog to show up great on both Internet Explorer and Firefox because they are the two most popular browers right now.

We have similiar blogs with the same template but we are not having the same trouble.  So is that a template problem or not?  That is what we are going to be figuring out in tonight’s blogging class starting at 8:30 Central time.

If you are going to have a blog, you will find out about Technorati sooner or later.  On most Word Press blogs technorati is the pinging service of choice.  What does that mean?  It means that what you write is going to get seen by the crawling electronic (?) spiders who will visit your blogging content.

Technorati Profile

For the past 3 months I have been looking at several blogs and there are thousands out there.  It seems that the people who are like me and addicted to blogging really have some great ones going.  If you are going to be a blogger you have to enjoy what you are doing.  The questions most beginners have are not about how to make money with blogging, but just how to get started in blogging.

Maybe I am wrong, but not every blog I see is blatent about a sales pitch.  That is a great thing.  There are genuine people out there who just have something they want to share or a platform to speak from.

Are you serious about starting a blog?  What do you want your blog to say about you?  Ask not what your blog can do for you but ask what you can do for your blog!  Thanks JFK for letting me steal your quote.  There are things to consider though if you want to have people actually read your blog then you are going to have to get out there and promote!  It is difficult to have people just appear at your blog without some effort to get your name out there.

Getting your blog to be seen requires some time and some reciprocaation among several blog owners.  Join some communities and make some friends.  Unless you have a mailing list or are going to pay for advertising it is a step along the way.

That is my advice today, and I will expand on this in the future.
